Initial Ideas:

Major Project Ideas:

Trying to figure out what I want to do for my Final Major Project is difficult, as I have so many ideas and interests I want to delve deeper into, there is also a lot of things I want to learn about also. To help me get to this conclusion I am going to split my ideas up and create mind maps on how I can explore these ideas to the fullest. With the skills and techniques I want to learn I am going to create a list with a rank on which skills I want to learn the most being at the top to the skills that I want to learn that will be a bonus/ least to be at the bottom.

When making my initial ideas mind map I wanted to include topics that interested me but would also be interesting to others. I also included any type of skills that would be included within each idea, also characters, props and what would be seen visually.

In the end I opted for the Horror Myths concept as I feel it would be a great topic to explore new skills and would be the most material to research as it would delve into the exploration of different cultures myths.

Skills I can learn and work on:

One of the important things I wanted to do with this project is to learn new skills and work on my skill set. I want to learn as much as I can this year, probably too much to even take on, to make this easier for myself I decided to write a list of things I really want to learn then sort of 5 skills I will definitely take on to learn, then if I can learn more it would be a huge bonus.

I really want to focus on my prosthetic skills this year so a lot of the skills from my list are related to that but I do want to work on some hair but I haven’t figured out where i want to incorporate that just yet.

The next thing I wanted to map out was which myths and legends I wanted to do as there is so many different myths, with multiple ‘characters’, with so many spins and different cultures. To chose I wrote down as many as I could remember from when I was younger, hearing about at sleepovers, things my parents told me and what I’ve heard about growing up. From there I chose the four that interested me the most, trying to chose ones from different cultures and places around the world.

I then tried to incorporate which skills I wanted to learn this year, with each look i was going to do.

Some background on the myths to be researched:

Before I went deep into researching my project I wanted to clarify some of the facts I remember from. The four myths I’ve chosen, just some notes about each one, a bit more detail into why I’ve chosen the four myths and a bit more detail into the skills I want to use for these looks.

The last thing to do was think about my topic question. I know i wanted to research different cultures and myths within my project so the question i chose I think reflects that. My topic question is:

‘How have traditional horror myths changed over the years?’
